About Zion

Mission Statement

“Sharing our love and understanding of Christ through our discipleship, missions

and outreach to our community.”

Our Beliefs

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of humans. We look to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to grow its creative and redemptive work in the world. We are in agreement with historic confessions such as the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Heidelberg Catechism. We recognize two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion.

Staff

The staff and leadership at Zion Blue Mountain UCC is comprised of men and women who love, care and pray for every single person in the church.

Reverend Patrick W. Morris, whose name might sound familiar, because he is the husband of our previous minister, Rev. Sharon Morris. Pastor Pat served in Amityville for 18 years and Fleetwood for 12 years. He retired during COVID but then felt called to return to part time ministry.  He has been hired as a part time designated term Pastor which means he will be working 20-23 hours a week, and will be giving the shut ins communion quarterly, and will do hospital visits as needed and of course preaching Sunday mornings.

He enjoys being a Pastor and is excited about serving as Zion’s Pastor.  His preaching reflects his love of the land.  Farming played a huge role in the formation of his faith.  He connects with the seasons of the year and his heart is nourished by the seasons of planting and harvest so  we think he will feel right at home in Strausstown.  His belief is that Jesus was inspired by farming as well as it is often referenced in the parables of his teaching.

His office hours are Monday and Thursdays 9 am – 12 pm. Feel free to stop by and meet him or have a cup of coffee.

Designated term means that he will serve our congregation on a part time basis for a set period of time, to be determined by the pastor and the committee.  If we are all agreeable, he may stay on for a longer period of time as a settled pastor if the Consistory and the congregation agree.
